“…This result confirms that the difficulties of visual impairment increase with the severity of glaucoma. This finding is in line with the study done in Ethiopia [24]. This may be due to the study population with relatively similar age ranges ( 17 years) and the use of a similar cut-off point for defining visual impairment.…”

“…Consistent with the studies conducted in South Africa [ 35 ], Taiwan [ 36 ], Ghana [ 37 ], and Ethiopia [ 24 ], in this study, those women aged 31–49 years had higher odds of VI. This could be due to the increased risk of age-related diseases of the eye following ageing.…”

“…In this hospital-based study, the prevalence of VI was 28.5% of the whole patients attending eye clinics during January-December 2017. This was higher than the prevalence reported by Binnawi et al [17] in North Kordofan State of Sudan (8.37%) and by Assefa et al [18] in Ethiopia (16.8%). The high rate of visual impairment may be principally attributed to the difference in study design, environmental differences, the age range of participants, gender differences, and sample sizes.…”
