Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic systematic autoimmune disease. Current methods of diagnosing SLE or evaluating its activity are complex and expensive. Numerous studies have suggested that neutrophil-tolymphocyte ratio (NLR) is closely correlated with the presence of SLE and its activity, suggesting that it may serve as a diagnostic and monitoring indicator for SLE. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to systematically assess the association between NLR and SLE. We performed a literature search until 12 April 2019 in the PubMed, Web of Science, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases. Cross-sectional studies comparing the NLR of SLE patients versus those of healthy controls, of active versus inactive SLE patients, and of SLE patients with versus without lupus nephritis were considered for inclusion. Mean intergroup NLR differences were estimated using standardized mean differences and their 95% confidence intervals. Study quality was assessed using the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality instrument for cross-sectional studies. Fourteen studies with 1,781 SLE patients and 1,330 healthy controls were included in this meta-analysis. The pooled results showed that the NLR was significantly higher in SLE patients than in healthy controls, in active SLE patients than in inactive SLE patients, and in SLE patients with lupus nephritis than in those without lupus nephritis. NLR may be an indicator for monitoring disease activity and reflecting renal involvement in SLE patients. Nevertheless, more high-quality studies are warranted to further validate our findings.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the role of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as non-specific and independent laboratory biomarkers when associated with Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events (GRACE) mortality risk score in predicting the morbidity and mortality of patient with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods: A cross-sectional study design among 103 AMI patients who met inclusion criteria were enrolled in this study. NLR was the ratio of absolute count between neutrophil and lymphocyte. In addition, the GRACE score was a valid instrument in evaluating acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 17. Results: Correlation test showed a weak positive correlation between NLR value and GRACE risk score (r=0,388; p<0,05). Bivariate comparative analysis showed that there was a significant difference in NLR mean in GRACE score group (F (2,100) =5,215, p=0,007). Using the least significance different, it was found that there was a significant difference of NLR mean between low and high GRACE score group {(p=0,003; 95% CI =-3,556-(-0,736)}. Conclusion: Our study suggests that there was an increase in NLR value proportional to the higher GRACE stratification risk score and there was a significant difference between NLR values in low and high GRACE groups.

Background: Cervical cancer is the second most often cancer that occurs in women worldwide after breast cancer and as many as 84% of the cases occur in developing countries. Pap Smear is a screening method that widely used for cervical cancer screening. The aim of the study is to obtain the characteristic data of pap smear cytology as a pre-cervical cancer screening in Sanglah General Hospital 2016-2017 period. Methods: This study was descriptive research with cross sectional study design. The sampling technique is total sampling where the research data comes from the cytology registration book results of the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory at Sanglah General Hospital Denpasar 1 January 2016-31 December 2017 period which has fulfilled the inclusion criteria and does not meet the exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20 for Windows. Results: This study collected as many as 590 samples. Most of the pap smear patients at Sanglah General Hospital Denpasar were 41-50 year old group as many as 188 people (31.86%), most of the patients parities were nullipara parities as many as 324 people (54.92%), most had no complaints as many as 261 people (44.24%) and most of the pap smear cytology description was Reactive Cellular Changes Associated with Inflammation (RCCI) as many as 261 people (44.64%). Conclusion: Most of the respondents who underwent pap-smear test as a screening step for pre-cancerous lesions had a cytological picture of Reactive cellular changes associated with Inflammation (RCCI)
