Pressure drop characteristics of reverse circulation pneumatic cuttings removal during coal seam drilling

Abstract: To solve the problems that the borehole depth is shallow and the drilling efficiency is low during the gas drainage drilling in soft coal seam with current cuttings removal method, a new technology of reverse circulation pneumatic cuttings removal is proposed. The working principle of reverse circulation pneumatic cuttings removal is analyzed, and the kinetic equation of cuttings in the inner hole of the drill pipe is established. Through experiments, the pressure drop in the drill pipe is measured to reveal t… Show more

“…[6][7][8][9] Among these, the occurrence of rock bursts is becoming more frequent and intense, posing a significant hindrance to the sustainable development of the coal industry. [10][11][12][13] Therefore, addressing and managing these challenges effectively becomes imperative for ensuring the long-term viability of the coal economy. Some studies have shown that during the coal mining process, the coal-rock interface is subjected to compressive-shear combined loads due to the influence of mining-induced stress, extraction, and tunneling.…”

“…Cao et al 6 observed that the suction effect of a drill bit could be improved by designing a swirling generator. Han et al 14,15 found that a reasonable air velocity was conducive to discharge coal cuttings in the study of coal seam RC. Finally, Yang et al 16 studied the effect of bit structure on RC drilling performance.…”
