Preparation of Cellulose-Graft Superabsorbent Resin

Abstract: In order to prepare a novel superabsorbent resin based on cellulose, straw pulp cellulose was used as raw material, through etherification preparation of carboxymethyl cellulose, K2S2O8-Na2SO3 oxidationredox system as an initiator, acrylic acid, acrylamide as grafting monomer, crosslinking agent N, N-methylenebisacrylamide were used to synthesize the high water absorbent resin. The effects of reaction conditions to superabsorbent resin were studied using water absorbencies as evaluation standard, the optimum p… Show more

“…Undoubtedly, absorbent hydrogels using micro/nano cellulose as the backbone of graft polymerization have high tolerance for permeation of solutions and advantageous biodegradability compared to traditional absorbent hydrogels, most of which are produced on the basis of acrylic acid and acrylamide (Klemm et al 2005). Hydrogels based on nanocellulose are likely to become a future direction in the development of waterabsorbing material (Miao et al 2012).…”
