“…For the control fabric, which burned completely within a very short time, these values were 5.8%, 143, and 1%, respectively (Table 1). For the cotton treated with DPTA, the LOI and the remaining TGA char at 600 °C of a pure cotton fabric, which burned entirely, increased to 25.4% and approximately 42% from 18.4% and approximately 15%, respectively, with maximum damage length of 8.1 cm (Tables 1 and 2) (Zhao et al 2017).…”

“…The synthesis of a reactive FR possessing phosphorus, nitrogen and silicon as synergistic atoms was reported, and it was covalently grafted on cotton through siloxy group [111]. The target FR 75 was prepared from the reaction of (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane with chlorodiphenylphosphine in the presence of Et 3 N in 91 % yield (Scheme 37).…”

“…Recent interest has also been shown with the potential for combining phosphorus, nitrogen, and silicon with cellulose substrates in order to create carbonaceous and silicaceous char formation [27]. In the study of Zhao et al [40], a novel halogen-free phosphorus-nitrogen-silicon FR monomer with reactive siloxy groups, N-(diphenylphosphino)-1,1-diphenyl-N-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl) phosphinamine (DPTA) has been synthesized and was applied to the fire-resistant finishing of cotton fabrics via impregnation method. TGA, MCC, and LOI test showed that treated cotton fabrics with 29 add-on % DPTA showed 40% char residue, which apparently increased the heat release rate and LOI value of 30.7%.…”
