Preparation and properties of hollow silica tubes/bismaleimide/diallylbisphenol A composites with improved toughness, dielectric properties, and flame retardancy

Abstract: New high performance insulating composites based on hollow silica tubes (mHST) and bismaleimide/diallylbisphenol A (BDM/DBA) resin, which exhibit improved toughness, dielectric properties, and flame retardancy, were successfully developed. The effect of the amount of mHST on the properties of composites was systematically studied. Results show that the impact strength of the composite with 0.5 wt% mHST is about 2.2 times that of BDM/DBA resin. In addition, compared with BDM/DBA resin, the composites show lower… Show more

“…In recent years, the thermal and dielectric properties of BMI resins have been researched a lot, and examples are given in Figure 12. 30 32 In order to diversify their scope of applications, especially at high temperatures, the T g s must be improved. Even as their joint density increased, their T g did not exceed 280°C.…”

“…29 In recent years, the thermal and dielectric properties of BMI resins have been researched a lot, and examples are given in Figure 12. [30][31][32] In order to diversify their scope of applications, especially at high temperatures, the T g s must be improved. Even as their joint density increased, their T g did not exceed 280 C. The modified BMI resin in this article had an increased cross-link density, but the T g increased only to a maximum of 300 C. In the field of electricity, many researchers have made many attempts to reduce the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of materials, but the dielectric constant was always around 3.00, and the dielectric loss was about 0.01.…”

“…The dielectric constant of cured EP decreases monotonically along with an increasing content of DHBI, which is corresponding to the restriction of the rigid phosphaphenanthrene and triazine in cured EP on the mobility of molecular chains. 42 Also the symmetrical structure of triazine reduces the dielectric constant of cured resin. 40…”

“…Furthermore, cured unmodified BDM is relatively brittle because of its high crosslinking density and rigid structure . Fortunately, the two‐component high performance resin system basis on BMI and diallylbisphenol A (DBA) has good processing characteristics, toughness, and good dielectric properties .…”
