“…Simultaneously, many functional foods have been obtained from the roots, stems, and leaves of A. manihot because of their abundant nucleotides, nucleosides, and nucleobases ( Du L. Y. et al., 2015 ). Furthermore, nucleotides, nucleosides, and nucleobases have been regarded as quality control markers for many traditional Chinese medicines, such as royal jelly, Mactra veneriformis , and Cordyceps sinensis ( Liu R. et al., 2012 ; Wu et al., 2015 ; Lin et al., 2018 ; Zhou et al., 2018 ).…”

“…As the heart of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) systems, stationary phases have drawn extensive attention. To meet the growing demand in different fields, various stationary phases used for HPLC have been developed. Recently, stationary phases with mixed-mode mechanisms have emerged as the hot research topic, owing to the advantages of much higher sample loading capability, high selectivity, and good separation efficiency over the classical single-mode stationary phases. Up to now, many kinds of mixed-mode stationary phases, including ion exchange chromatography (IEC)/reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC), hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC)/RPLC, ,, HILIC/IEC and RPLC/HILIC/IEC, , were reported and applied in a number of separation fields. However, the search for multifarious stationary phases is still a growing demand in order to resolve the tasks of ever-evolving actual applications.…”

“…3−6 For example, Zhou et al prepared a dopamine-based dendrimer stationary phase, which provided good performance separation of hydrophobic and polar analytes using RPLC or HILIC. 3 Over the past decades, the development of HPLC column packing material has been ever-accelerating owing to interdisciplinary expansion of separation science and new porous materials, such as metal−organic frameworks (MOFs) 7−14 and covalent organic frameworks (COFs). 15−20 Hybrid particles with a silica core and porous shell combine the advantages of the shell material and the easy packing/ mechanical stability of the silica core, which enhance the separation efficiency.…”

“…In the case of such complex separation systems, a single-mode stationary phase often fails to provide proper retention and separation selectivity. Mixed-mode chromatography (MMC) possesses multiple chromatographic ligands that provide multimodal interactions, enhancing the separation selectivity of complex mixtures of solutes that vastly differ in physicochemical characteristics. , Among the different types of mixed-mode stationary phases, RP/HILIC mixed-mode stationary phases are embedded with both hydrophobic and hydrophilic moieties in order to separate both polar and nonpolar analytes. For example, Zhou et al prepared a dopamine-based dendrimer stationary phase, which provided good performance separation of hydrophobic and polar analytes using RPLC or HILIC . Guo et al immobilized β-cyclodextrin on a silica surface for mixed-mode separation of flavone glycosides by HILIC/RPLC …”
