Pregnancy Outcome in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract: Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder defined as glucose intolerance with the onset or fi rst recognition during pregnancy. Gestational diabetes mellitus is associated with higher incidence of maternal diabetes mellitus later in life. It poses a risk to the pregnant woman and to the fetus. “…Prevalence of GDM in a study done in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) Kathmandu was 0.6%, in Dhulikhel Hospital, it was 0.75% and in Kathmandu Medical College, it was 1.58%.
