“…Complete denture wearers are often subject to poor nutritional status, poor general health, social anxiety, and depression . Denture movements during speaking and chewing have been found to be a contributing factor to these negative outcomes, and improved satisfaction with denture fit and chewing and speaking performance is associated with a higher quality of life for complete denture wearers .…”

“…Complete denture wearers are often subject to poor nutritional status, poor general health, social anxiety, and depression. 3,[29][30][31] Denture movements during speaking and chewing have been found to be a contributing factor to these negative outcomes, and improved satisfaction with denture fit and chewing and speaking performance is associated with a higher quality of life for complete denture wearers. 32 Here, we have demonstrated that the use of denture adhesive is associated with statistically significant reductions in the nature and extent of denture micromovements in experimental chewing situations when compared to a no-adhesive control.…”

“…15,31 Patient satisfaction could be further complicated by attitudinal changes in the edentulous patient owing to the impact of various personal, financial, and health-related factors 32 or to social issues such as loss of spouse or caretaker, body image disturbance, inability to eat or speak, and dependence on others for mobility. To the best of our knowledge, ours is the first study to feature intraoperative assessment of provider-patient communication by designing and implementing a customized communication skills training for prosthodontic residents to help them provide care for complete denture patients and the subsequent assessment of any change in their attitude.…”

“…Complete denture treatment was chosen for this study because clinical prediction of patient satisfaction is difficult and can be influenced by a number of factors, such as anatomy-related, technique-related, dentist-related, or patient-related factors. 15,31 Patient satisfaction could be further complicated by attitudinal changes in the edentulous patient owing to the impact of various personal, financial, and health-related factors 32 or to social issues such as loss of spouse or caretaker, body image disturbance, inability to eat or speak, and dependence on others for mobility. Marchini suggested that improving dentist-patient communication is the most useful strategy to improve patients' satisfaction with their dentures.…”

“…The inverse route would hardly be taken, because a patient will hardly adapt to dentures with lack of technical quality from the beginning. Although the subjective evaluations of the patients are important for the measurement of the satisfaction of the prosthetic rehabilitations, the technical quality of the prostheses is also a primordial factor [24].…”
