Precise orbit determination of BeiDou constellation based on BETS and MGEX network

Abstract: Chinese BeiDou Navigation Satellite System is officially operational as a regional constellation with five Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellites, five Inclined Geosynchronous Satellite Orbit (IGSO) satellites and four Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellites. Observations from the BeiDou Experimental Tracking Stations (BETS) and the IGS Multi-GNSS Experiment (MGEX) network from 1 January to 31 March 2013 are processed for orbit determination of the BeiDou constellation. Various arc lengths and solar radiation … Show more

“…Consistent with previous studies [2,6,[10][11][12], GEO satellites have the worst precision among the three types of satellites. The main reason for this phenomenon is the much smaller changes of the observation geometry of the GEO satellites compared to the IGSO and MEO satellites.…”

“…The results of such kind of analyses are systematically published in reference to the different orbit models [1,[24][25][26][27][28][49][50][51][52][53][54][55][56][57]. The major innovation introduced by the GOVUS system is the near-real time of calculations and a remarkable ease of repeatability of performed analyses for every user.…”

“…The orbit and satellite clock errors are corrected using the final products downloaded from ftp://ftp.gfz-potsdam.de/. Some points need to be noted that [32,33]: (a) one more inner-frequency bias (IFB) parameter is introduced for each GLONASS satellite during the data processing due to its application of FDMA Frequency Division Multiple Access; (b) one more system bias, which refers to the inter-system bias (ISB), is added for BDS observation with respect to GPS system. The prior variances of GNSS obserbvations are determined as follows:…”
