A indústria têxtil tem-se desenvolvido e crescido cada vez mais, com isso vem usando mais corantes, logo é gerado um volume grande de efluentes altamente coloridos e contaminados, esses efluentes se forem descartados sem um tratamento prévio em corpos hídricos, podem gerar problemas ambientais graves. Uma maneira simples, eficiente e barata de realizar a remoção desses corantes é utilizando a técnica de adsorção. Com isso o presente trabalho pretende demonstrar se resíduos de maracujá, as sementes, que tem baixo valor agregado podem ser utilizado como adsorventes alternativos para o tratamento de efluentes têxtil. Logo o objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar as sementes de maracujá como adsorvente alternativo do corante têxtil Nylosan azul N-BLN, além de avaliar o efeito da força iônica e do pH da solução na eficiência de adsorção e realizar o avaliar a viabilidade do processo de dessorção. Os estudos de adsorção foram conduzidos em coluna de leito fixo usando os resíduos de maracujá in natura e submetidos a tratamentos químicos com HCl. O tratamento ácido aumentou a eficiência de adsorção da biomassa. A força iônica teve pouca influência sob o processo de adsorção. O pH influenciou o processo de adsorção, sendo que o melhor valor de pH foi igual a dois. O processo de dessorção foi possível de acontecer, utilizando como solução extratora hidróxido de sódio NaOH. A capacidade adsortiva para as sementes foi de 10,2 e 20,2 mg g-1 para a biomassas in natura e tratada com HCl.

Water pollution has generated the need to develop technologies to remove industrial pollutants. Adsorption has been recognized as one of the most effective techniques for effluent remediation. In this study, parts (stem and leaves) of a problematic aquatic weed, the water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes), were separated to produce a bioadsorbent. The objective was to evaluate the adsorption of a cationic dye, methylene blue (MB), in an aqueous solution of the biomass from different parts of the water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) plants. The materials were characterized through techniques of infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, and thermogravimetric analysis, before and after the material adsorption. Water hyacinth biomasses presented adsorption capacity above 89%, and the kinetics was faster for stem biomass. The kinetic study found that the adsorption process is better described by the pseudo-second-order model, and the adjustments of the isotherm experimental data indicated that both materials are favorable for adsorption. Therefore, water hyacinth bioadsorbent represents a renewable resource with potential for effluent treatment.

The presence of dyes in wastewater can cause several damages to the environment. Aiming at its removal, advanced oxidative processes (AOP) and adsorption (ADS) have been used. In this work, the removal of acid blue dye 80 (AA80) by AOP (photoperoxidation (PP) and photo-Fenton (PF)) and by ADS was evaluated, individually and combined. The use of the PP/UV-C system led to degradations of 72.7 and 83.8% for the λ of 334 and 622 nm, respectively. The PP/LED system did not degrade. For the PF process, > 90% degradation was obtained for both radiations. The [Fe] (1 mg.L-1) and [H2O2] (90 mg.L-1)were optimized for the PF/LED system. As for the PF/UV-C system, the optimal [H2O2] was 60 mg.L-1. The experimental data fit well with the Chan and Chu (2003) kinetic model with R2>0.94. The kinetic data showed a better fit to the pseudo-second order model (R2>0.90), while equilibrium was reached in 30 min with removal of 62.45 (λ=334 nm) and 83.22% (λ=622 nm), being well represented by the Langmuir and Sips models. Finally, the combined study promoted a 7% increase in AA80 removal, achieving an improvement in the final toxicity of the treated matrix when compared to isolated AOP systems.
