Show more

“…The high heritability observed for all evaluated traits is explained by the advanced stage of the genotypes (F 7 ), with a high degree of homozygosity, as verified by Rocha et al (2009) and Barros et al (2011). The same results were obtained by Singh and Craufurd et al (2005), for NDF and NDM in cowpea, with heritability restricted to 0.86.…”

“…In cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.), flowering shows differences from the common bean, but some plants show single and compound inflorescence, which is similar to our results. Among the traits assessed by Barros et al (2011) in cowpea, the length of the peduncle with pods was estimated, which is a trait similar to LI. F 3:4 progenies from the cross between contrasting lines for the type of inflorescence were used.…”

“…All heritability values were within the confidence interval, indicating good accuracy of estimates. Moreover, the heritability of the traits associated with earliness was higher than that obtained for progenies with simple inflorescences (Cruzio, 2014), but lower than those found in studies with compound inflorescences (Barros et al, 2011;Sousa et al, 2015). The NDF, NDM, LFP, and GYPP traits showed the highest estimates of heritability.…”
