Postharvest quality assessment of apple during storage at ambient temperature

Abstract: In this study, the physical and chemical quality attributes of apples were measured experimentally during the storage after harvesting, using well-defined procedures and techniques. Overall quality index (OQi) models were formulated in terms of measured quality attributes. Firmness (F) and total soluble solids (TSS) varied from 11.88 AE 0.25 to 7.68 AE 0.24 N and 14.1 AE 0.1 to 12.7 AE 0.1 % Brix, respectively, whereas acidity and density varied from 0.163 AE 0.003 to 0.081 AE 0.001 % and 0.995 AE 0.003 to 0.9… Show more

“…The regression equations are presented in Table 2. The same trend for TSS has been reported in the literature, although described with a third-order polynomial [33,34]. The TSS of the stored apples varied significantly (p < 0.05) in relation to temperature and duration of storage.…”

“…After diluting the juice 100‐fold, its TA was measured using an acidity meter (GMK‐855; G‐won Hitech). The TSS and TA values of the juice were measured in triplicate and recorded 24 …”

“…The change in colour of tomato samples is an indicator of the advancement of the ripening stage with storage duration. The Hunter colour values ( L , a , b ) 28 were measured using Konica Minolta Chroma meter CR‐400 at five randomly selected equatorial region of tomato samples. All the readings were taken five times and average values of readings are reported.…”
