“…Numerous studies have considered age as a risk factor in post-COVID-19 infection, observing that older women with high body weight (obesity) are much more susceptible to the infection than men [18]. Meta-analyses have outlined the profile of patients susceptible to post-COVID-19 infection, and it has been observed that age, female sex, severe form of COVID-19, the presence of at least five symptoms during the acute phase of the disease, and obesity are the most representative characteristics of this condition [31]. Not only obesity but also diabetes are the main risk factors that increase mortality in patients with COVID-19.…”

“…Sharif detected a co-prevalence of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and long COVID among 11.9% of patients [86]. Even though Hung et al described a higher prevalence of long COVID in adults with asthma compared to the general population [87], the published data neither confirm nor deny whether long-term COVID-19 symptoms in patients with an asthma diagnosis differ in strength and frequency from those without an asthma diagnosis [88].…”

Commonly reported symptoms include fatigue, dyspnea, cognitive impairment, insomnia, anxiety, and depression [ 8 - 12 ]. These persistent symptoms significantly impact individuals, reducing their quality of life (QoL) and ability to work and perform routine daily activities [ 13 , 14 ].…”
