Poly(brilliant Cresyl Blue)-Modified Electrode for Highly Sensitive and Simultaneous Determination of Hydroquinone and Catechol

Abstract: A selective and highly sensitive electrochemical method, based on a poly(brilliant cresyl blue)-modified activated glassy carbon electrode, was developed for the simultaneous determination of hydroquinone (HQ) and catechol (CT). The modified electrode was characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV). It was found that the modified electrode showed an excellent catalytic activity and enhanced reversibility toward the oxidation of both HQ and CT in 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution (PBS, pH 7.0). The peak-to-peak sepa… Show more

“…Electrochemical sensors have been widely applied for the analysis of Allura Red in foods due to fast response, low cost, simple operation procedure, required small amount and high sensitivity ( Ahammad et al, 2011 ; Shaikh et al, 2013 ). It is feasible to miniaturize instrument for on-site detection.…”

“…Meanwhile, various electrochemical methods have attracted increasing attention due to their high sensitivity, simple operation, fast response, and low cost [4,[15][16][17]. Many modifiers such as mesoporous Pt [18], RGO-MWCNT [19], graphene/AuNPs/chitosan [20], Pt-MnO 2 [21], carbon nanofragment [22], and conducting polymers (CPs) [23] have been introduced to enhance the electrode performance. Especially, CPs are preferential in view of their easy preparation and surface homogeneity as well as good reproducibility and stability [24].…”
