“…It has been suggested that there is a deficiency in the protective antioxidant systems or increased utilisation of antioxidants in pre-eclampsia compared with normal pregnancy. 8 Contrary to many other studies 9,23 suggesting a role of oxidative stress in pre-eclampsia, some reports 8,24,25 documented that there were no significant differences between the oxidant or antioxidant activity or both in pre-eclampsia and in normal pregnancy.
