Pillar[5]arene-based diglycolamides for highly efficient separation of americium(iii) and europium(iii)

Abstract: Pillar[5]arenes, as a new intriguing class of calixarene analogues, were functionalized with ten diglycolamide (DGA) arms on both sides (rims) of the pillar framework and evaluated for their extraction behaviour towards Am(III) and Eu(III). These novel extractants exhibit excellent separation and extraction efficiency, suggesting its significant potential for nuclear waste remediation. Laser induced fluorescence experiments disclosed strong complexation of the trivalent metal ions with the pillararene-DGA liga… Show more

“…General 1 H NMR spectra were recorded on the Bruker Avance-400 (400 MHz) spectrometer and 13 C and 2D NOESY NMR spectra were obtained on the impulse spectrometer Bruker Avance II (with 125 MHz and 500 MHz respectively). Chemical shifts were determined against the signals of residual protons of deuterated solvent (CDCl 3 ).…”

“…11,12 Calixarenes belong to the family of cage macrocycles, including besides them cyclodextrins, [13][14][15] cucurbiturils 16,17 and pillararenes. 18 All macrocycles of this family are useful in the field of supramolecular chemistry for formation of inclusion complexes 1,[19][20][21] and rotaxanes in which they serve as rings. [22][23][24][25] One should note also heteracalixarenes, i.e.…”
