Physicochemical composition, minerals, and pesticide residues in organic grape juices

Abstract: Demand for organic products is intensified in many countries each year. Following this trend, Brazil produces increasing volumes of organic grape juice. In this way, a survey of organic grape juices made from grapes produced according to this system was carried out where physicochemical composition, minerals, trace elements, and pesticide residues were determined. Variables related to grape juice composition were performed by physicochemical procedures; minerals and trace elements, by inductively plasma optica… Show more

“…However, there is no standard for classifying the Al and Sr elements despite their preponderance ( Figure 2). Some values of Ba (three samples) are higher than those obtained in the literature (Codex Alimentarius 1999;Miele and al. 2014;Szymczycha-Madeja and al.…”

“…The level of potassium was higher (p<0.05) than that of sodium, which could realize a mineral balance and favor hypertension control. Moreover, a diet rich in potassium could lower blood pressure and consequently the risk of morbidity and mortality due to cardiovascular diseases (Miele et al, 2015). In addition, potassium intake could decrease urinary calcium excretion and consequently reduce the risk of developing osteoporosis (Çetin et al, 2011).…”

“…Therefore, it is crucial to select the optimal edaphoclimatic conditions, genotype and best agricultural practices, in order to maximize the level of heath beneficial components. Even though various studies have been performed in strawberries, grapes and blueberries, there are only a few studies on blackberries . In this context, the aim of this study was to compare the accumulation pattern of polyphenols as well as the sensory profile of blackberry varieties ‘Loch Ness’ and ‘Chester Thornless’ grown using organic and conventional agricultural practices under the same edaphoclimatic conditions.…”
