The purpose to highlight and focus on the most important risks of forest fires in radiationcontaminated areas, with some detailing of the problem in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone (CEZ). The search strategy was to collect a sufficient number of relevant publications in ScienceDirect, PubMed, Mendeley, ResearchGate, GoogleScholar from 2006 to the present in English, Russian, Ukrainian. Requests were made on the topics "Forest fires in a radioactively contaminated area" and "Assessing the territories' radiation safety", as well as for the keywords of this study. Analysis of available open information about the CEZ was done. Although, in the future, temperatures are expected to rise in contaminated forests, and the amount of precipitation will remain the same or slightly decrease, which will contribute to an increase in the frequency of fires. Considering the socio-economic situation in Ukraine, the introduction of early detection systems is more profitable than the elimination of the consequences of such emergencies. Investigations have been studied, which were published after 2006 only in English, Russian, and Ukrainian. The most attention is paid to Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Despite the fact that a lot of studies are devoted to the study of the ecological situation in radioactively contaminated areas, many issues related to safety still concern the population living in this area. The reason for this is intermittent fires, which again and again cover large areas with smoke and cannot be extinguished for a long time. To eliminate anxiety, it is necessary to convey truthful information to the population in the most accessible and convincing way. It was a critical look at numerous studies in this area that made it possible to present concentrated information understandable for most segments of the population. The document concentrates on the most key problems of fires in radioactive forests, shows the intensity of the radionuclides impact on the population and the exposure ways, as well as the probable risks. Such information is necessary to reduce the psychological stress that can be caused by the media influence. Objectively understood situation promotes constructive action in extreme conditions and reduces the likelihood of panic.

Purpose: Determination of such an interval of workplace environmental physical factors control, which would ensure high monitoring reliability and the minimum data collection and processing duration (or cost). Design/methodology/approach: To achieve the goal were applied: analysis and synthesis of known scientific results on the topic of research, statistical analysis, mathematical modelling. Statistical data for determining the interval of control was recorded at regular intervals. Findings: A methodology has been developed for determining the interval of workplace environmental physical factors values control. It is based on the identification of patterns of change in the physical factors values. The algorithm of workplace environmental physical factors values control is proposed, which helps to identify cases when the actual values of the factors exceed the limit values. The practical application of theoretical propositions showed that the correlation coefficient between the factual sample and the sample formed using the determined control interval is within 0.74…0.88, which satisfies the condition R > 0.5 as intended. Research limitations/implications: The mechanism for workplace environmental physical factors values monitoring was further developed on the basis of forecasting changes in the physical factors values and determining the duration of the excess of the factors values over the limit. In this study on stationary and conditional stationary processes was the focus. Practical implications: The use of the algorithm that is based on the methodology for determining the interval of workplace environmental physical factors values control contributes to more effective monitoring of working safety. Originality/value: For the first time justified by the choice of the control interval of workplace environmental physical factors values with acceptable accuracy of the forecast that allow to quickly establish working conditions hazard class.

A method for operational forecasting of fires is proposed that enables the sequential implementation of five procedures. The method development is necessary to predict early fires in premises in order to take measures to prevent them from escalating into an uncontrolled combustion phase ‒ a fire. As a result of research, it was found that a short-term forecast of the recurrence of increments of the air conditions by one step, based on the current measure of recurrence, is an effective indicator of early fires in premises. At the same time, it was found that before the moment of ignition of the material, the state of the air environment is characterized by dynamic stability, which is described by an irregular and time-dependent random change in the recurrence of the states of the vector of current increments of the state of the air environment. The values of the indicated levels of recurrence of the state increments are determined by the probability levels of 0.67 and 0.1, respectively. The probability of recurrence of state increments of 0.67 is characteristic of a larger number of measured states. When the material is ignited, the dynamics of the probability of recurrence of state increments change abruptly. There is a transition from two to one level of recurrence, close to zero probability ‒ the loss of dynamic stability (in the region of count 250). Further dynamics are characterized by the appearance of separate random recurrent increments corresponding to the instability of the air environment in the premises. In the course of the experiment, it was found that the accuracy of predicting a fire by the proposed method ranges from 4.48 % to 12.79 %, which generally indicates its efficiency. The obtained data prove useful in the development of new systems that early warn of fire in premises, as well as in the modernization of existing systems and means of fire protection of premises
