Photosynthetic responses of young cashew plants to varying environmental conditions

Abstract: -The aim of this study was to characterize gas exchange responses of young cashew plants to varying photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD), temperature, vapor-pressure deficit (VPD), and intercellular CO 2 concentration (C i ), under controlled conditions. Daily courses of gas exchange and chlorophyll a fluorescence parameters were measured under natural conditions. Maximum CO 2 assimilation rates, under optimal controlled conditions, were about 13 mmol m -2 s -1, with light saturation around 1,000 mmol m -… Show more

“…. This higher variance in the physiological parameters of the trees in SF indicates a greater variation in the physical parameters of the environment, since the response of the plants is proportional to the variations in the environment [29], to some extent. Solar radiation may be one of the factors that explain these variations.…”

“…Thus, there are possibly other factors influencing the response of stomatal conductance and transpiration to soil moisture in SF. It is known that physiological processes in plants respond to environmental conditions [29]. On the other hand, it is also known that many species anatomically modify to adapt to stressful environmental conditions or alter biochemical processes to tolerate environmental stresses [31].…”
