Phosphonated Polyethylenimine‐Coated Nanoparticles: Size‐ and Zeta‐Potential‐Adjustable Nanomaterials

Abstract: Novel partially phosphonated polyethylenimine polymers are developed in order to control the modification of nanoparticle (NP) surfaces. This polymer is built by an accessible one‐step process. The numerous phosphonate functions assume both a strong covalent anchoring on metal oxide NPs and a modulation of electric charges, while amino groups are associated with dispersion preservation and subsequent biofunctionalization. The zwitterionic nanomaterials obtained display a good stability toward pH and ionic stre… Show more

“…The GO concentration range was set close to that found in natural water (Zhao et al 2020b). In these systems, GO particles had hydrodynamic diameters of 250-300 nm and zeta potentials ranges from -30 to 50 mV, indicating that the GO particles had been stably dispersed in the synthetic wastewater at the four concentrations (Monteil et al 2014). M. aeruginosa was inoculated at density of 1.0×10 5 cells/mL and the reactors were placed in an illumination incubator (MGC-300A, China) at 28.0 ± 0.5°C and 75% humidity.…”

“…This amount is higher than the commercial activated charcoal (980 mg·g −1 ) and among the largest measured extracted amounts of BM dye [27]. This high q max can be attributed to the composition of NP-PEIP: PEIP represents more than 80% of the particles total weight [20], and under the same conditions maghemite does not adsorb more than 1 mg/mg. In addition, each monomeric unit of the PEIP potentially interacts with charged pollutants through amine or phosphonate groups.…”

“…In a previous work we described the synthesis, the coating of maghemite and a characterization of the physicochemical properties of the material [20,22]. As illustrated in Fig.…”
