“…The antihistamine fluorescence spectra were recorded at pH 2 where there is little variation in fluorescence with a change in pH. In the case of the antihistamines having the diphenylmethane chromophore (lb, 2b, 3b, 6), there is a distinct similarity among the fluorescence spectra of three of the antihistamines (lb, 2b, 6) and among the phosphorescence spectra of all four compounds. Bromodiphenhydramine hydrochloride does not exhibit any measurable fluorescence until it has been exposed to ultraviolet irradiation; the fluorescence bands that result are distinctly different than those of the other three (footnote, Table I).…”

“…3-Indoleacetic acid io% ci-2 X 101 10% Br-1 X 101 10% I-2 X 101 a Ratio of phosphorescence intensity in halide salt/ethanol to phosphorescence intensity in ethanol. 6 Ratio of to fluorescence intensity in 0.01M acid.c Calculated from Figure 3 of reference 27. fluorescence intensity in halide salt/0.01M acid phenylhydramine is similar to that of diphenylmethane, but not to that of toluene. In contrast, the phosphorescence emission spectra (Figure 2) of freshly prepared chlorcyclizine (2b) and meclizine ( 6) are not similar to that of either diphenylmethane or p-chlorotoluene, even though both chromophores could be visualized as parts of these two antihistamines.…”

“…Pharmaceuticals. An extensive review of analytical methods for pharmaceuticals, including fluorometry, lists 2349 references (910). Fluorometric analyses for many narcotic and dangerous drugs have been discussed in detail (281,681), and procedures have been described for morphine, codeine, and other opium alkaloids in mixtures (152) as well as morphine and quinine in human material (632).…”

“…A large number of Schiff base complexes are characterized by an excellent catalytic activity in a variety of reactions at high temperature (>100 o C) and in the presence of moisture [3]. In recent years, there have been numerous reports of their use in homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis [4].…”
