Marriage is a sacred, religious, and has long-term purposes activity. Marriage is assumed as making a legal relationship between a couple within opposite sex. Rather than being a simple activity, marriage is a complex activity which has various aims that are teaching and taking care children, working together with the couple, and other happiness purposes. However, this picture of marriage seems missing in the work of Eka Kurniawan in the book of Perempuan Patah Hati yang Kembali Menemukan Cinta Melalui Mimpi. Through this book, the readers can see the opposite condition of marriage compared to marriage’s stereotypes within the society. It also shows there are gender inequality practices throughout the story. Using Critical Feminism theory and descriptive-qualitative method, this research purpose is to analyze three short stories by Eka Kurniawan entitle (1) Gincu ini Merah, Sayang, (2) Cerita Batu, and (3) Pelajaran Memeliharan Burung Beo, to find how gender inequality depicted and the portrait of marriage which in the short stories. These three short stories show similar problem in a marriage which resulted in divorce. Through the process, this study found two main portraits of marriage in the works of Eka Kurniawan, that are (1) in marriage there are gender inequality practices which makes women suffer in various areas. (2) The relationship between male and female characters shows an unhealthy relationship in which women always suffers. Both result shows that marriage is not always about happiness, but its face has been changed due to unhealthy relationship. In all unhealthy marriage, woman always captures as the victims which legitimizing woman position as a submissive in a relationship even in the modern society.

This study aims to examine the discourse of virginity represented in Indah Hanaco's The Curse of Beauty. Sales Promotion Girl (SPG) is one of the professions that are in great demand by women, especially teenagers today. SPG is a woman who has met certain criteria recruited by companies to promote, market and inform consumers of the products. Their work is vulnerable to sexual oppression. This inspired Indah Hanaco in writing her novel. Therefore, there are several issues to be discussed.(1) the form of virginity discourse represented by The Curse of Beauty. (2) the function of virginity discourse in The Curse of Beauty (3) the meaning of virginity discourse represented by Indah Hanaco. This study uses the analysis of form, function, meaning the discourse theory of Michel Foucault. This research shows, virginity is a discourse formed by the social construction of society about women who have never had sexual relations. The form of the discourse of virginity is shown through the story of the taboo of sexual intercourse before marriage or the importance of keeping the chastity (virginity) of women from sex intercourse with a lover. The function of virginity discourse in the novel is as a description of social construction in society about what is a woman's virginity. The meaning of the discourse of virginity represented by Indah Hanaco is that virginity is not a matter of the dignity of women but a matter of oppression of women in this case experienced by the SPG.

In this globalization era, with the high technology money becomes the important thing in human life. Sometimes, it is synchronous to the values and morals. Even, they have a good educational background, it is not guaranteed. Many women are one of the victims of underdevelopment society. The lacking of learning opportunity makes them should survive in a difficult life. Finally, the only thing they can do is using their body to work. Money, family, and social environment have the role important in individual deviation. One of them is women who work as Sales Promotion Girl (SPG). They are taken into the prostitution. This reality is represented in Indah Hanaco’s novel “The Curse of Beauty”. Thus, this paper reveals the representation of women sexuality in her novel. It explains their underdevelopment education and sexual oppression. Therefore, there are some research problems to be discussed. First, what does mean money contestation of SPG’s life?. Then, how does the education affect SPG’s life in The Curse of Beauty novel?. Next, how do money and education affect SPG in the prostitution world?. This paper aims to open up the money contestation affect the SPG’s life until they are trapped in the prostitution world. It uses descriptive qualitative. Data are taken from all descriptive concerning SPG body appearance to understand the narrative meaning of the beauty. It applies power and subject theory of Michael Foucault. Money and education have changed women life to the sexual oppression which brings them to the prostitution world.
