Performance Comparison of PCD Insert and Uncoated Insert in Novel CNC Green Machining of SS316L Stainless Steel for Maximizing Material Removal Rate

Abstract: Aim: This research is about comparing the performance of poly-crystalline diamond (PCD) insert and uncoated cemented carbide insert for improving the material removal rate (MRR) in CNC turning. Materials and Methods: The material investigated in this research was SS316L. PCD insert was set as the experimental group and uncoated insert was set as the control group. The cutting parameters employed in this process were cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut. Totally 27 samples per group were machined by using … Show more

“…In a study it is found that a coated carbide performs better than any uncoated insert during CNC machining process by using a workpiece of a particular grade EN36 steel alloy [3]. This research indicates an optimization strategy for CNC turning in IS2062 E250 steel employing carbide tools and it is carried out by [6]. Results stated that SR and MRR are directly dependent on varying input parameters.…”

“…PCBN inserts support greater surface quality during machining when compared to uncoated inserts [5]. "Optimization of machining parameters in machining of IS2062 E250 steel using coated carbide cutting tool" is the best research article that was discovered that is similar to this experimental comparison by [6]. According to this, our team has extensive experience of projects in a range of areas.…”
