To analyze the prevalence of anemia and associated factors in primiparous parturient. Cross-sectional study conducted in a municipality of the Brazilian Western Amazon from July 2014 to December 2015. A convenience sample of 461 first-time pregnant women were interviewed. Data on their sociodemographic, clinical, obstetric, personal habits and nutritional status were collected. Anemia and iron depletion were measured by peripheral blood collection with hemoglobin, hematocrit, serum ferritin and transferrin saturation index. To test the association between the variables, the χ 2 tests were applied and Poisson regression analysis with a 95% confidence interval was performed, and P < .05 values were considered significant. The Forward stepwise strategy was used to construct the adjusted model. These analyzes were performed using the STATA 14.0 program (College Station, TX, 2013). A higher risk of anemia was identified among adolescent; white; who had a partner; with unpaid occupation, with less than eight years of formal education. Residents in the countryside; smokers; who had more than six prenatal consultations and were overweight. Anemia was reported in 28.20% and iron depletion in 60.52% of parturient women. The variables studied did not have association with the anemia outcome, except alcohol consumption.

Objective: The aim of this study was to describe and analyse the profile of growth in normal infants during the first year of life, including their patterns of weight and length, and the duration of breastfeeding. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study conducted based on 85 records of infants who met the inclusion criteria. The total duration of breastfeeding was recorded along with weight and length at three ages: birth, 6 and 12 months. The data were analysed as Z-scores based on WHO (2006) using the software products MedCalc 12.0 and GraphPad Prism 6.0. Results: Although 76.5% of the infants showed a growth pattern compatible with WHO references at 12 months of age, the others presented as overweight as at risk of being overweight. A significant correlation was observed between birth weight and BMI Z-score at two ages: 6 months (r = 0.26; p = 0.01) and 12 months (r = 0.32; p = 0.002). A correlation between birth weight and length Z-score was also found at 6 months (r = 0.4034; p = 0.0001) and 12 months (r = 0.3309; p = 0.002). Birth length was also correlated with length Z-score at 6 months (r = 0.4829; p < 0.0001) and 12 months (r = 0.3407; p = 0.0014). Breastfeeding duration did not show any correlation with anthropometric data at 6 and 12 months of age. Conclusion: The growth pattern of the sample during the first year of life was found to be appropriate or faster than normal. Growth pattern also seems to be influenced by anthropometric characteristics at birth, which does not depend on breastfeeding duration.

A maioria das crianças avaliadas tiveram em aleitamento materno, condizente com a pesquisa de Mendes et al (2014) com 22 lactentes de 6 a 24 meses encontrou uma frequência de 63,63%. No entanto, após introdução de alimentos as crianças sempre consomem doces e alimentos industrializados.…”

Introdução: O estado nutricional é avaliado durante o acompanhamento do crescimento e desenvolvimento infantil. A avaliação permite identificar problemas que possam afetar a saúde das crianças. Dessa forma, é importante a avaliação do estado nutricional para planejar ações de prevenção a doenças e promover a saúde. Objetivo: Identificar o perfil nutricional de crianças de zero a cinco anos atendidas em uma unidade saúde da família. Métodos: Tratase de um estudo descritivo, transversal de abordagem quantitativa. A pesquisa foi realizada em uma Unidade de Saúde da Família (USF) do Município de Poconé em Mato Grosso. A amostra foi constituída por 99 crianças menores de cinco anos. Foi utilizado um questionário estruturado para coleta de dados. Para avaliação do estado nutricional, utilizaram-se especialmente as medidas de peso e índice de massa corporal por idade. A análise dos dados foi realizada por tabulação no software Microsoft Excel versão 2010, onde a estatística foi descrita e realizada através das medidas de ocorrência, através de frequência absoluta (n) e relativa (%) para os dados categóricos e média.Palavras-chave: Criança.
