Perceptions of clinical utility of an Augmented Reality musical software among health care professionals

Abstract: This research suggested that the GenVirtual is a complementary tool to conventional clinical practice and has great potential to motor and cognitive rehabilitation of children and adults. Implications for Rehabilitation Gaining health professional' perceptions of the Augmented Reality musical game (GenVirtual) give valuable information as to the clinical utility of the software. GenVirtual was perceived as a tool that could be used as enhancing the motor and cognitive rehabilitation process. GenVirtual was vie… Show more

“…When articles on AR practices used in surgical sciences were examined, it was observed that the highest number of publications was on the domain of General Surgery as clinical domain [13,17,20,44]. And when the key words of the publications were analyzed, it is being observed by Graph 5 that the most frequently used key word was "Augmented Reality" [5,7,8,9,11,13,14,15,16,17,19,20,21,22,23,26,27,29,31,33,34,35,37,38,39,41,42,44,45,46], and the second one was "Virtual Reality" [ 8,9,13,14,16,25,27,37,41]. 1 [34] 1 [37] 1 [20] 1 [24] 1 [35] 1…”

“…There are also no scientific reports analyzing the use of musical games for reaction time and hand-eye coordination. However, some studies suggest that these capabilities have been improved by other training sessions conducted in VR [37,38]. Previous literature revealed that action video game players showed faster response times [39], improved attention [40], faster processing speeds [41], improved multitasking abilities [42] and visuo-motor reaction time and balance performances [43].…”

Great contributions have been made to the motor and cognitive rehabilitation of children and adults with the GenVirtual application [77]. According to Sünger's article, an AR application has been developed by Dr. Itaru Endo and his team to reduce the risks associated with liver surgery [35].…”
