Perbedaan daya pembersih kavitas saponin ekstrak kulit manggis (Garcinia mangostana Linn) 0,78% dan asam sitrat 6% (The difference of 0,78% saponin from mangosteen pericarp extract and 6% citric acid for cleanliness of cavity)

Abstract: Background: Cleanliness of cavity is considered important for a restoration. Smear layer formed after cavity preparation should be removed in order not to disrupt the bond adhesion between restorative materials and dental cavities. Saponins contained in mangosteen pericarp (Garcinia mangostana L.) have surfactant properties that can eliminate the smear layer assessed. 6% citric acid is a chelating agent which can eliminate the inorganic particles of the smear layer. Until now, the research on the differences o… Show more

“…Citric acid also has properties as a chelating agent. This property will clean the smear layer because of its ability to form complex bonds (chelate) with the calcium content in the smear layer [24]. The COOH group will dissociate, forming H + for H3O + and allowing the COO − anion to cause calcium chelation.…”

“…Currently, the use of cavity cleansers that have antibacterial properties is becoming popular (Kimyai et al, 2017). Cavity cleanser is a material used to clean, wet, and disinfect cavities after preparation (Setianingrum et al, 2017). Cavity cleaning is done to remove debris, bacteria, and microbes that have settled on the prepared cavity walls, such as in the formed smear layer, dentinoenamel junction (DEJ), or the dentinal tubules (Setianingrum et al, 2017;Siwinata et al, 2020).…”

An ideal cavity cleanser must have a low level of toxicity to the pulp cells without interfering with the adhesion of the restorative material (Setianingrum et al, 2017).…”
