Penicillin-resistant pneumococcus and risk of treatment failure in pneumonia

Abstract: Intravenous penicillin/ampicillin remains the drug of choice for treating penicillin-resistant pneumococcal pneumonia in areas where the MIC does not exceed 2 microg/ml.
