The purpose of this study was to find out the Prospective English teachers’ perspective on the development of translation’s textbook base on Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Pedagogical purpose. Therefore, the quantitative research was applied to gather the data. By using the questionnaire with Likert Scale, the quantitative data were collected from 100 prospective English teachers in Indonesia. As a result, from nine aspects questioned to the prospective English teachers, most of them (92%) said that the translation’s textbook base on TEFL Pedagogical purpose was significantly needed. Therefore, the English Education Study Program (EESP) in Indonesia should use translation for teaching English purpose not for professional career in translation. Therefore, Translation as a TEFL purpose model is the most suitable model to be applied in EESP in Indonesia.

The Readability of Students’ Textbook Used in Semantic and Pragmatic Course in English Language Education Program of Unp

Many students got low score in Semantic and Pragmatic course. They complained that the textbook used in the course is difficult to understand. It is possible to consider that there is a correlation between the students’ bad scores and the readability of the textbook. In previous research, it was found that suitable level of readability and reading skills are important consideration to reach maximum learning gain. Because of that, it becomes important to measure readability level, the factors which influencing readability level and the best way to use the textbook. This research was a descriptive quantitative research. The sample of this research was 3 pages from 3 chapters of the textbook, chapter 9, 10, and 11 chosen randomly from each chapter. The instruments were a written questionnaire, an online readability measurement website, and notes during interview. The findings show that the readability level measured by students and readability formula was difficult. The most influencing factors in determining readability level were interest and vocabulary difficulty. The best way to use the textbook was using one single textbook, editting by put some notes on the page, then presenting it in a lecture form by the lecturer.

Abstrak -Belum meratanya jaringan 4G LTE di kota Balikpapan khususnya kecamatan Balikpapan Timur maka dibutuhkanlah suatu perancangan jaringan 4G LTE agar semua pengguna smartphone di Balikpapan Timur dapat menggunakan teknologi ini. Dalam perencanaan jaringan 4G LTE pada penelitian ini mengunakan Physical Cell Identity (PCI) supaya tidak terjadi interferensi antar satu dengan sel lain.Metode penelitian diawali dengan melakukan simulasi dengan menggunakan software Atoll meliputi: simulasi perencanaan jaringan tanpa PCI, simulasi perencanaan jaringan menggunakan PCI dilanjutkan dengan membandingkan hasil yang didapatkan. Untuk nilai parameter Best signal level dan Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) tidak mengalami perubahan setelah diterapkan PCI, sedangkan untuk nilai parameter Carrier to Noise Interference Ratio (C/(N+ I) setelah penggunaan PCI mengalami peningkatan sebesar 0,09 dB, untuk parameter throughput mengalami peningkatan sebesar 0,063 Kbps, sedangkan untuk nilai parameter Block Error Rate (BLER) tidak mengalami peningkatan yaitu memiliki rata-rata sebesar 0,02 tetapi memiliki pertambahan luasan area level terbaik dari 4,6 km menjadi 4,7 km Kata kunci -LTE, 4G, PCI, BLER, RSRP Abstract -The lack of equalization of 4G LTE network in Balikpapan city especially East Balikpapan, it is needed a design of 4G LTE network so that all smartphone user in East Balikpapan can use this technology. In this research, 4G LTE network planning is using Physical Cell Identity (PCI) so that there is no interference between one with other cell. The research method begins by performing simulations using Atoll software include: simulation of network planning without PCI, simulation of network planning using PCI followed by comparing the results. For parameter value of Best signal level and Reference Signal Received Power RSRP did not change after applied by PCI, while for parameter value Carrier to Noise Interference Ratio C/(N + I) after PCI usage increased by 0,09 dB , For throughput parameters increased by 0,063 Kbps, for the BLER parameter value did not increase which has an average of 0,02 but has increase coverage area of the best level from 4,6 km to 4,7 km Keyword -LTE, 4G, PCI, BLER, RSRP I.
