ABSTRACT
The traditional beverage business opportunity during the pandemic is quite prospective. Many people are fond of traditional drinks to increase their immunity. This became one of the backgrounds for the community service team of the Pharmacy department of STIKes Akbidyo to raise the theme of processing traditional drinks in Pelemsewu Hamlet. Pelemsewu hamlet is one of the hamlets located in Panggungharjo Village, Sewon, Bantul which is located close to campus. Based on the results of interviews with some Pelemsewu residents, information was obtained that there were residents affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the most obvious of which was the decline in the income of residents who work as traders. On the other hand, Pelemsewu Hamlet has the potential for natural ingredients that have not been managed optimally, namely lemongrass and ginger. So that to increase the income of residents and the economic value of these natural materials, it is necessary to process natural materials into prospective products, namely traditional drinks.
This community service is carried out through several stages, namely first a situation analysis, followed by coordination with the leader of Pelemsewu and local residents, then the implementation of socialization and training conducted face-to-face, followed by mentoring and evaluation
Based on the evaluation that has been carried out, the results show that there is an increase in the understanding of the residents of Pelemsewu hamlet about processing traditional nutritious drinks as one of the business opportunities during the pandemic. The residents hope that there will be further follow-up of service activities in the form of product packaging and marketing.
