PEDOT Decorated with PtIr Nanoclusters on Carbon Fiber Paper toward Electrocatalytic Reduction of a Hypertensive Drug Olmesartan Medoxomil

Abstract: A facile electrochemical sensor was developed by electrochemical deposition of PtIr nanoparticles on poly(3,4ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) modified carbon fiber paper electrode (CFP). The modified electrodes were characterized by Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), RAMAN spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and electroanalytical techniques. PtIr-PEDOT modified CFP electrode was used successfully … Show more

“…This XRD pattern has been compared to that of the bare PGE and PEDOT/PGE as reported in the literature. 21 The PEDOT/PGE XRD patterns show characteristic peaks at 28.5° and 54.8°, which correspond to the interchain planar ring stacking distance of PEDOT. Ag–PEDOT/PGE showed characteristic peaks at 35.3°, 38.7°, 46.9°, and 64.1° corresponding to the (100), (101), and (110) crystal planes (JCPDS File No.…”

“…In addition, the current investigation was validated by making use of the standard addition method and was exposed to linear regression analysis for validating the current investigation. 21 The linear regression eqn (6) is provided below. I p (A) = 2.9895 × 10 −5 [MMA] − 0.0017 ( R 2 = 0.9972)…”

“…The electrode surface area of the redox couple was determined using cyclic voltammetry. Graph of peak current (anodic) against square root of scan rate was plotted along with the determination of the respective slopes (Figure S1, Figure S2, Figure S3) . The electrode surface area was calculated by Randles‐Sevciequation (Equation 1) using the slopes, concentration and diffusion coefficient . truenormalip=2.69×1050.166667emADo1/20.166667emnormaln3/20.166667emν1/20.166667emnormalC …”

“…In this regard, various materials are being used to modify the bare electrodes, like conducting polymers, metal nanoparticles, carbon nanomaterials, metal oxides, and semiconductors. [13][14][15] Presently, carbon-based materials such as charcoal, activated carbon, carbon nanotubes, carbon nanobers, fullerenes, graphene, and porous nanocarbons are receiving signicance due to low density, large surface area, good exibility, high mechanical strength, and stability. 16 Among carbon-based materials, the nanocarbon spheres (NCS) exhibit distinguishing advantages, like simple preparation methods, uniform particle size, consistent surface morphology, larger porosity, and specic surface area, good dispersity, higher chemical and thermal stability, excellent biocompatibility, larger ionic and electronic conductivities and higher packing density, when compared to the other forms of carbons.…”
