“…However, higher fungal pectinase activities have been reported in the literature; for instance, Penicillium verruculosum reached 10.32 U mL -1 in culture media supplemented with orange peel (Stroparo et al 2012), and Aspergillus niger LB-02-SF exhibited 14 U mL -1 , when pectin was added to the medium (Reginatto et al 2017). Despite this, several pectinases have been hitherto reported for A. japonicus, such as endopolygalacturonases and pectinesterases (Hasunuma et al 2003, Semenova et al 2003, Teixeira et al 2011, pectin lyases (Semenova et al 2003, Ishii & Yokotsuka 1975, and exo-polygalacturonases (Teixeira et al 2011), indicating that this species can be highly promising for the production of these enzymes.…”

“…DT7, Aspergillus niger LB-02-SF, Streptomyces sp. P12-137, have been used for the separate production of xylanase and pectinase enzymes from such crude polysaccharide substrates [21][22][23][24] . Thus, it was necessary to screen these substrates for efficient concurrent induction of xylanase and pectinase enzymes.…”

“…In literature, B. pumilus AJK has been reported for the production of xylanase and pectinase after growing on 2% WB and 2% Mosambi Peels 11 . Enhancement of pectinase activities by Aspergillus niger LB-02-SF has been reported after the supplementation of wheat bran to the orange residues containing media 23 .…”

“…While the commercial availability of A. niger pectinase cocktails indicates that the industry has established strains for pectinase production, almost no information on their specific origin is publically accessible. In the academic field, numerous studies on optimization of fermentation conditions for pectinase production with various strains have been published (e.g., [1,18,42]). However, these do not allow for direct performance comparison of individual strains due to varying study designs and fermentation conditions.…”
