PDGF-C and PDGF-D signaling in vascular diseases and animal models

Abstract: Members of the platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) family are well known to be involved in different pathological conditions. The cellular and molecular mechanisms induced by the PDGF signaling have been well studied. Nevertheless, there is much more to discover about their functions and some important questions to be answered. This review summarizes the known roles of two of the PDGFs, PDGF-C and PDGF-D, in vascular diseases. There are clear implications for these growth factors in several vascular diseases… Show more

“…Vascular injury induces pericyte differentiation and migration during neointima formation and vascular calcification. After arterial injury, the pericyte itself contributed to the restenosis after arterial injury by modulating the PDGF signaling [54,55]. The role of MSCs within the adventitial layer is still not clear in humans.…”

“…Фактор роста тромбоцитов -Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) -это белок, способствующий пролиферации и миграции мезенхимальных клеток [22]. С чрезмерной экспрессией гена PDGF связывают развитие многих ССЗ, таких как атеросклероз, аневризма аорты и ИБС [23]. Молекула PDGF существует в виде нескольких димеров, ранее было выявлено, что димер PDGF-BB может быть использован в качестве биомаркера для диагностики ИБС [24].…”

“…Czynniki wzrostu uwalniane z płytek krwi (PDGF, czynnik wzrostu śródbłonka naczyniowego [VEGF, vascular endothelial growth factor]) oraz niektóre cytokiny i chemokiny regulują te procesy [14]. W badaniach eksperymentalnych przeprowadzonych w ostatnim ćwierćwieczu wykazano związek czynników wzrostowych (PDGF, VEGF) z hiperplazją neointimy i restenozą [15][16][17][18]. Jednak modulacja sekrecji czynników związanych z procesami gojenia dla uzyskania korzyści klinicznych pozostaje nadal obszarem wymagającym dalszych badań.…”
