Objective: to identify the support actions undertaken for the woman during labor, birth, cesarean section and the postpartum period. Method: a transversal study, undertaken in three public maternity hospitals, with a sample of 1,147 companions. The data were collected through interviews and were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The support actions were classified in four dimensions: emotional, physical, informational and relating to intermediation. Results: the majority of interviewees were the partner/father of the baby (76.7%). In labor, birth and the postpartum period, the actions of emotional support - such as calming, encouraging and praising, were performed by more than 80.0% of the companions; informational support, by approximately 70.0%; and intermediation by fewer than 65.0% of them. In childbirth, the emphasis on physical support was observed in assisting with walking (84.4%), and in changing position (90.4%).Conclusion: the companions participate actively in the birth process, performing actions of support in the four dimensions. Emotional support is the most frequent, followed by physical and informational support, mainly during labor and birth. The results contribute to valuing the companion from the woman’s social network in the birth scenario and to the recognition of his/her role as a provider of support.

Objective: Describe the parents' perception of their fatherhood during pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium.Methods: it's a qualitative study, which the data were collected through a semistructured interview with 30 parents who had their children born in a public hospital. The thematic analysis followed Minayo's theoretical framework.Results: it was identified that parental involvement is being more active nowadays, the involvement begins from the reception of the news of being a father, going through the expectations of what will be the characteristics of his son and the prenatal followup. The father becomes a participant in the actions of care for the companion and the child.Conclusion: the study brought contributions to prenatal care and growth and development consultations, revealing the need to socialize the tendencies to provide assistance to the trinomial (mother-child).

Equipe de Enfermagem: a comunicação na assistência à parturiente Nursing Team: communication in pregnant women care RESUMO Introdução: A comunicação é intrínseca ao ser humano e permeia todas as suas ações. Ela se dá através de um processo de troca e compreensão de mensagens enviadas e recebidas, a partir das quais as pessoas percebem-se e compartilham significados e ideias. Objetivo: Compreender a forma de comunicação entre os profissionais das equipes de enfermagem e as parturientes. Metodologia: Estudo exploratório, descritivo-analítico realizado por meio de entrevista semiestruturada gravada com 34 profissionais de enfermagem de um Hospital Santa Casa. Analisado na abordagem qualitativa temática em que emergiram: Diálogo-Ação e Diálogo-Interação. Aprovado em Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa, CAAE: 34426114.7.0000.5323. Resultados: O comportamento dos enfermeiros no atendimento à parturiente evidencia o predomínio do Diálogo-Interação pela realização da educação em saúde. Já o dos técnicos de enfermagem enfatiza o Diálogo-Ação pautado na realização de procedimentos. Conclusão: A comunicação é utilizada como instrumento de assistência à parturiente no trabalho da enfermagem. Ela está impregnada pela interação recíproca entre equipe de enfermagem e parturiente, o que garante a troca de informações e proporcionar um cuidado integral a estas mulheres. ABSTRACTIntroduction: Communication is intrinsic to humans and permeates all its actions. It takes place through a process of exchanging and understanding messages sent and received, from which people perceive themselves and share meanings and ideas. Objective: To understand the way of communication between the nursing team professionals and pregnant women. Methodology: Exploratory, descriptive-analytical study conducted through semistructured interview recorded with 34 nurses professionals from a Santa Casa Hospital. Analyzed in the thematic qualitative in which they emerged: Dialogue-Action and Dialogue-Interaction. Approved in Research Ethics Committee, CAAE: 34426114.7.0000.5323. Results: Nurses' behavior in parturient care evidences the predominance of Dialogue-Interaction by performing health education. The nursing technicians emphasize the Dialogue-Action based on the performance of procedures. Conclusion: Communication is used as an instrument for parturient care in nursing work. It is impregnated by the reciprocal interaction between nursing team and pregnant womwn, which ensures the exchange of information and provide comprehensive care to these women.
