“…Not only agrometeorological conditions are important in understanding and predicting productive variables in pastures. Other factors such as management of mechanistic models that estimate biomass production, such as CROPGRO (Bosi et al, 2020b;Brunetti et al, 2021) and APSIM (Bosi et al, 2020a;Gomes et al, 2020), are also relevant.…”

“…This model was initially parameterised for U. brizantha cv. BRS Piatã (Bosi, Sentelhas, Huth, et al, 2020), and Gomes et al (2020) performed a simple parameterisation inserting some parameter values obtained by Pezzopane et al (2018) for Marandu palisade grass.…”

“…Studies on the modelling of tropical forages grown in Brazil are still recent and need more efforts to improve the simulation results, showing the importance of studies on the parameterisation of models for these plants. The few studies performed with APSIM‐Tropical Pasture for simulating U. brizantha growth demonstrated the efficiency of this model for cut‐and‐carry systems (Bosi, Sentelhas, Huth, et al, 2020), but showed that the model, in its current form, is not able to effectively simulate grazing systems (Bosi, Sentelhas, Huth, et al, 2020; Gomes et al, 2020). These findings allowed driving future studies on APSIM‐Tropical Pasture to adapt it for simulating the effect of grazing animals on tropical pastures by adding new sub‐models and functions.…”

“…Os sistemas silvipastoris (SSPs), incluídos nas modalidades dos SAFs, utilizam árvores, animais e pastagens de maneira simultânea (NAIR, 2014) e funcionam como potenciais sumidouros de carbono. SSPs são SAFs que podem reduzir e compensar as emissões de GEE do setor agrícola brasileiro, principalmente por meio da integração da pecuária com as árvores plantadas (GOMES et al, 2020).…”
