Panbiogeografía, componentes bióticos y zonas de transición

Abstract: ABSTRACT. Recognition of biotic components is a key element for understanding evolution in space-time. Panbiogeography represents a biogeographic approach that may be applied to identify these biotic components. A revision of the panbiogeographic approach is provided herein, including definitions of basic concepts (individual and generalized tracks, nodes, baselines, and main massings) and methods (manual, connectivity and incidence matrices, track compatibility, and parsimony analysis of endemicity). As an ex… Show more

“…The Serra da Bodoquena are located biogeographically in the central portion of a Neotropical Region called "Chaqueño" (sensu Morrone 2004), which includes continuous biomes (e.g. Caatinga, Cerrado, Chaco) to the Amazon and Atlantic forests.…”

“…Recent biogeographical reviews conducted by Morrone (2002Morrone ( , 2004aMorrone ( , 2004bMorrone ( , 2006; see also Goin et al forthcoming) stressed the dual nature of South American biogeography. The southernmost tip of the continent (Patagonia and the Southern Andes) was regarded as belonging to a distinct region (the Andean Region) of the Austral Kingdom.…”
