P05 imaging beamline at PETRA III: first results

Abstract: The imaging beamline (IBL/P05) operated by Helmholtz Zentrum Geesthacht (HZG) at the DESY PETRA III storage ring consists of two experimental stations: A micro tomography and a nano tomography end station. Here an overview of the experimental setups and the data acquisition will be given. In addition some first results out of the wide range of applications using the micro tomography station at P05 will be shown. Furthermore, we present first results of the nano tomography end station. These were obtained with a… Show more

“…Parameters characterizing the degradation of the material were determined and the non‐destructive nature of SRµCT enabled the subsequent analysis of the elemental composition of the material using micro X‐ray fluorescence spectroscopy (µXRF). The presented flow cell is in its second generation and was designed for the micro‐computed tomography beamline P05 at storage ring PETRA III . The first generation flow cell was previously successfully tested at the beamlines BW2 and W2 of the storage ring DORIS III at the Deutsches Elektronen‐Synchrotron DESY …”

“…Both taxonomic groups are well suited for this research, since they are very diverse (10,000 and 40,000 described species, respectively) and possess a broad feeding spectrum (for example mycophages, phytophages, predators, saprophages, and sporophages). Tomographic data are acquired at the P05 Beamline operated by HZG at the DESY synchrotron radiation source PETRA III [45][46][47][48][49][50][51] .…”

“…Most important equipment for this type of interferometer is a detector system with a high spatial resolution, that allows to resolve the interference pattern directly. The microtomography endstation at the beamline P05, 7,8 operated by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht at the synchrotron radiation storage ring PETRA III at DESY (Hamburg, Germany), reaches an effective pixel size between 0.3 µm and 2.4 µm. This is an ideal basis for high-resolution phase-contrast imaging using a single-grating interferometer.…”
