The concept of blockchain technology has gained significant momentum in practice and research in the past few years, as it provides an effective way for addressing the issues of anonymity and traceability in distributed scenarios with multiple parties, which have to exchange information and want to securely collaborate with each other. However, up-to-date, the impact of the structure and setup of business networks on successfully applying blockchain technology, remains largely unexplored.We propose a model-driven approach, combining an ontology and a layer model, that is capable of capturing the properties of existing blockchain-driven business networks. The layers are used to facilitate the comprehensive description of such networks. We also introduce the Blockchain Business Network Ontology (BBO), formalizing the concepts and properties for describing the integral parts of a blockchain network. We show the practical applicability of our work by evaluating and applying it to an available blockchain use case.

Abstract. Organizations face more and more the burden to show that their business is compliant with respect to many different boundaries. The activity of compliance checking is commonly referred to as auditing. As information systems supporting the organization's business record their usage, process mining techniques such as conformance checking offer the auditor novel tools to automate the auditing activity. However, these techniques tend to look at process instances (i.e., cases) in isolation, whereas many compliance rules can only be evaluated when considering interactions between cases and contextual information. For example, a rule like "a paper should not be reviewed by a reviewer that has been a co-author" cannot be checked without considering the corresponding context (i.e., other papers, other issues, other journals, etc.). To check such compliance rules, we link event logs to the context. Events modify a pre-existing context and constraints can be checked on the resulting context. The approach has been implemented in ProM. The resulting context is represented as an ontology, and the semantic web rule language is used to formalize constraints.

La adopción de soluciones BPM es una tarea compleja que involucra aristas tanto organizacionales como relacionadas con las Tecnologías de la Información. Los académicos y profesionales de tecnologías BPM definen sus propios ciclos de vida de los procesos de negocio y las guías para afrontar iniciativas de informatización basadas en BPM. Estas iniciativas son, en ocasiones, parcializadas porque alcanzan solo instrucciones técnicas de tecnologías BPM o se centran en elementos teóricos aislados. El presente trabajo unifica las posturas en relación con la adopción de BPM aplicando los métodos de mapeo y revisión sistemáticas de la literatura. En este sentido, se toma como partida tanto fuentes académicas como empresariales para caracterizar esta adopción tecnológica desde varias aristas como: los sistemas BPM, ciclo BPM, los elementos comunes de una solución BPM, el lenguaje de modelado de procesos, Arquitecturas Orientadas a Servicios y procedimientos, guías o metodologías para desarrollar soluciones BPM.
