One-step potentiostatic electrodeposition of NiS–NiS2 on sludge-based biochar and its application for a non-enzymatic glucose sensor

Abstract: NiS–NiS2/sludge-based biochar/GCE was fabricated by one-step potentiostatic electrodeposition on biochar and used as an interface material for non-enzymatic sensing of glucose with a lower detection limit of 1.5 μM.

“…Before the electrooxidation test, the working electrodes were activated via cyclic voltammetry (CV) at 100 mV s −1 until stable voltammograms were obtained. The recorded polarization potentials were transformed into a reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) scale using the following relation: 41 E (RHE) = 0.241 + 0.0591pH + E Ni7S6 /NF…”

“…Recently, transition metal sulfides (MS) have been considered promising electrocatalysts for electrochemical studies because they are abundant, affordable, and have a unique nanostructure with high catalytic activity. [33][34][35][36][37] Nickel sulfide is one that has already been investigated for alkaline water oxidation [38][39][40] and glucose sensing, 41 but it has not been studied yet as a catalyst for promoting the GOR. Therefore, nickel sulfide deserves to be investigated for this purpose.…”

“…10 Due to its highly specialized uses, including solar cells, lithium-ion batteries, photocatalytic H 2 production, and supercapacitors, NiS has seen an increase in interest. 11,12 The hexagonal, P63/ mmc high-temperature phase-NiS and the low-temperature phase-NiS are the two potential phases of NiS (rhombohedral, R3m). 13 In contrast to the latter, the former is metallic.…”
