Objects-Performances are the Key to Revitalizing the Historical Centers of Small Towns

The article is devoted to the classification of regeneration methods of buildings damaged by factors of aging, emergency situations and military events. Regeneration is becoming more urgent due to the destruction of a large number of historical quarters by military aggression. Different methods inherent in the regeneration of destroyed neighborhoods are classified, namely restoration, reconstruction and various options for new construction. The methods are illustrated with examples of their use mainly based on the experience of regeneration of Kyiv Podol district and other historical areas of Ukraine, as well as foreign ones. In the complex regeneration of neighborhoods, the preservation of architectural monuments, the restoration of the most valuable and preserved objects of the historical background building, the reconstruction of a certain part of the built objects that have value due to their facade solutions, new construction with the reproduction of the traditional character of the environment in various forms. At the moment, the new construction takes on the solution of modern urban planning and functional requirements for city centers as much as possible, and also serves as a hub of ideas for engineering reconstruction of the entire quarter, is the basis of sustainable development. Defined methods of ensuring the diversity of facade sweeps, which corresponds to the nature of background buildings and forms effective scenarios for pedestrian spaces.

Variability of Decisions for Reconstruction and new Development of Public Buildings in Cities of Ukraine Damaged by Military Actions. City of Kremenchuk

The article analyzes the influence of various factors on the choice of the concept of reconstruction and restoration of public buildings and territories. The main factors are determined: the degree of destruction of the building; function, its relevance and transformation, modernization; the level of significance of the building, territory, place / memorial; influence of the surrounding environment, its condition. For the post-war reconstruction, it is proposed to introduce the term: "integral reconstruction", which means a comprehensive individual approach to each case regarding the damaged building and territory. Methodical approaches to the restoration and reconstruction of public buildings and territories that were destroyed as a result of military actions are summarized: full restoration, restoration in its original form or in a form at a certain historical moment, without later architectural interventions; "Integral reconstruction", which combines various approaches in a certain proportion; A completely new construction, the site is perceived as a free zone without a historical basis. An experimental project for the reconstruction of the Railway Station and Multifunctional Eco-Center in the city of Kremenchuk, where destructions occurred due to war, is described.

Universal Methods of Architectural and Urban Reconstruction, Restoration, And New Construction Using the Examples of Objects In Ukraine

The article considers the universal traditional and innovative methods of the architect's work as: hereditary and theoretical-experimental methods of “pre-project analysis” (the method of “conservation” of the object by providing it with an educational function; the method of visual communication object with a person using temporary modular structures); traditional theoretical and practical methods (“stylistic” and “artistic”); innovative theoretical methods – “hermeneutic-semiotic” (“semantic-pragmatic” and “syntactic”), innovative practical method – “hermeneutic-semiotic” (“semionic”). The practical implementation of this method is shown in the examples of experimental conceptual projects for the reconstruction of destroyed and abandoned objects of various scales in Ukraine (city, building fragment, building). Stages of action for the first time reveal the mechanisms of architectural activity of architects based on the implementation of a unique innovative “hermeneutic-semiotic” (“semionic”) method of creativity and the theory of “informative architecture”.
