“…The mean age was 49.35 ± 11.10 and 52.75 ± 10.67 years in TA and placebo group, respectively. Median (range) disease duration was 10 years in TA group and 8.5 years in placebo group. Most of the patients had Fitzpatrick skin type III or IV, numbering 18 (90%) in TA group and 15 (75%) in placebo group.…”

“…The QS 532‐nm Nd:YAG laser is a popular treatment for SL. However, the incidence of PIH associated with laser treatment is relatively high, especially in dark‐skinned patients . To prevent PIH, several modalities using before, during, and after the procedure have been reported with variable results .…”

“…Post‐care may affect the risk of PIH with regimens varying in prior comparison studies We routinely use topical steroid at least seven days after treatment because it is thought to reduce the risk of PIH after laser treatment by reducing inflammation . In our previous study of QS laser, 0.12% betamethasone valerate plus 0.1% gentamicin sulfate was applied , which is stronger than the 0.05% clobetasone butylate used in the present study.…”

“…In that study, 355 solar lentigines in 195 patients were treated by two different QS lasers following use of hydroquinone and evaluated to compare treatment efficacy and incidence of PIH [9]. Kim et al reported 20% PIH among 20 patients and Kang et al reported 20.3% incidence among 516 patients in their studies of removing solar lentigines [10,11]. The current study had a higher rate of PIH than did a previous retrospective study by Guss et al where they reported 0.8% incidence of PIH in the removal of 255 lentigines from six patients with skin type IV from various races, which were treated by a picosecond Nd:YAG laser [20].…”
