This article examines the question of how architects in São Paulo during the 1950s and 1960s addressed the political nature of their work, and more specifically the connections between their practice and the lives and politics of the urban poor in the context of a rapidly expanding metropolis of the Global South. More specifically, it assesses how they elaborated strategies to articulate the semiotic and material practices of Brutalism and the political repertoire of national developmentalism, initially in its democratic and later in its authoritarian form. The article argues that these architects deployed two semio-material strategies to operationalize the articulation between that political repertoire and the field of architecture: metaphorical indexicality and the impetus for the industrialization of construction. The image of the urban poor reinforced by that political repertoire was marked by a severe distance from their empirical life experiences, which deeply affected the practices of design and construction that progressive architects advanced.

O presente artigo objetiva debater a bibliografia marxista de matriz comunista do cangaço dentro da tese da singularidade brasileira. Buscando identificar como determinadas “imagens” da realidade social brasileira foram utilizadas pelos trabalhos para explicar o cangaço. Posições que, consequentemente, reafirmam proposições singulares e podem ter implicado em considerações etnocêntricas. Além disso, através deste artigo será possível demonstrar como o Partido Comunista do Brasil exerceu influência na produção de teses sobre o cangaço. Ideias que, em sentido amplo, geraram objeções de um conjunto de trabalhos que também foram influenciados pelo marxismo.

Este artigo pretende contribuir para o debate sobre o papel dos partidos na escolha eleitoral no Brasil e tem como objetivo central verificar como a preferência partidária, operacionalizada em termos de uma escala de apreço pelos partidos individualmente, se relaciona com variáveis socioeconômicas e com a decisão do voto. Os resultados indicam que a renda familiar não explica as preferências dos eleitores pelos partidos, que, por sua vez, também não explicam o voto para deputado federal, sugerindo uma confirmação das hipóteses presentes na literatura a respeito do declínio da identificação partidária e da fraqueza dos laços sociais dos partidos com o eleitorado.
This article aims to contribute to the debate on the role of parties on the electoral choice in Brazil and intends to verify how party preference - which is measured through a scale of levels of preference -relates to socio-economic variables and with the decision of vote. The results indicate that the income does not explain the preferences of voters regarding parties, which in turn, also does not explain the vote for federal deputy. This seems to suggest that the literature regarding the decline of partisan identification and the weakness of the social links among parties and voters is correct
