Show more

“…Studies indicate that sociodemographic factors in the research development context (such as age, income, access to electronic media, previous participation in research) are associated with knowledge about research information 27,28,41 . In this sense, one should consider the context in which the research is conducted as a criterion for identifying the vulnerability of participants.…”

“…In Brazil, where the research participant's rights are explicitly protected by national resolution 6 , it is essential to evaluate the ethical quality of the FPIC for participants in biomedical pediatric research. Despite this need, national studies focus on assessing the quality of free, prior and informed consent for adults in research and clinical practice 19,[26][27][28] , devoting little attention to the quality of FPIC for children and adolescents 29 .…”

“…However, the bias in not remembering about signing informed consent can be explained by the fact that subjects might not understand the contents of the term (13,(18)(19)(20). Best practice already obliges researchers to comply with a range of legal and ethical obligations, with a particular focus on informed consent and research transparency (6,15,16,18,21).…”

“…These indicators are interpreted in some work as being directly related to the functional illiteracy of the country 45,46 and, therefore, affect the efficacy of the implementation of the FPIC form in developing countries. Thus, education in ethics in scientific research has an important role to educate researchers regarding the steps of the informed consent process, and the risks and damage to the consent when it is reduced only to the FPIC form.…”
