“…A higher radical scavenging activity in PEF treated extract was observed compared to the untreated extract; however, this was lower (p < 0.05) as compared to reference (vitamin C) at the same concentrations. The results are similar to the previous finding that PEF can increase free radical scavenging ability [43,44]. A significant increase was observed which can probably be due to improved extraction level of TCC, TPC, TAC and TFC as a result of cavitation processes after PEF treatment with different intensities.…”

“…These facts could explain why the results vary depending on the method selected (e.g., depending on the different radicals); in fact, the results of the date palm tested in our study show higher antioxidant activity in some other assays and have obtained a medium activity in others. Other researchers evaluated antioxidant activity in dates extracts by different methods ABTS, FRAP and DPPH and also observed in a good antioxidant activity, accordingly to the present results [41,44]. In conclusion, our results suggest that date palm may serve as a good source of natural antioxidants.…”
