Novel Modular Multiple-Input Bidirectional DC–DC Power Converter (MIPC) for HEV/FCV Application

Abstract: This paper proposes a novel multiple-input bidirectional DC-DC power converter to interface more than two dc sources of different voltage levels. This finds applications in hybrid electric/fuel cell vehicles, where different dc sources of unequal voltage levels need to be connected with bidirectional power flow capability. Converter can be used to operate in both the buck and boost modes with bidirectional power control. It is also possible to independently control power flow between any two sources when more … Show more

“…Equations (22) and (23) illustrate that, by adjusting the duty cycle of the main switches, that the DC values of the two input currents can be controlled to track the maximum power point for two PV modules independently in grid-connected PV power generation system. In the case of D eff1 = D eff2 , I in1 is equal to I in2 and the current auto-balance ability is achieved in the proposed converter.…”

“…The main elements design procedure for the boost cells are similar to the conventional boost converters 33 which can be designed using the input currents calculated in (22) and (23). The multiplier capacitors that are like the output capacitors of the boost cells can be calculated by the following equation:…”

“…Furthermore, the scheme was modified for reduction of lower-order switching harmonics. In [87], a novel modular multiple-input bidirectional DC-DC power converter (MIPC) was proposed to interface more than two DC sources of different voltage levels. The proposed converter has the following features: 1) more than two DC sources of different voltage levels are likely to be interfaced and they can be extended to any number of sources.…”
