Normal range for fetal urine production rate customized by biometry

Abstract: The use of biometric parameters for prediction of fetal UPR seems to be useful and can avoid the necessity of building local nomograms for different populations. The same strategy should be considered to other fields in fetal medicine.

“…We found that the HFUPR at 37 weeks’ gestation was 59.0 ± 47.3 ml/h, which was consistent with the values of 57.2 ml/h at 36–37 6/7 weeks’ gestation reported by Lee et al [ 20 ] and 54.35 ml/h at 37 weeks’ gestation reported by Peixoto-Filho et al [ 33 ], but lower than 78.4 ml/h at 37 weeks’ gestation reported by Touboul et al [ 30 ]. These variations in HFUPR might be related to fetal biometric differences because our results were most similar to those of Lee et al, which were also conducted on a Korean population [ 20 , 35 ].…”

“…The graphical analysis of the values for FUPR found in our sample of twin pregnancies against the prediction model by gestational age described by Peixoto-Filho in singleton pregnancies demonstrated overestimated values of FUPR for twins. This observation led us to propose a novel prediction model for TPUF by fetal biometry (Peixoto-Filho et al, 2013).…”

“…Occasionally the position of the fetus makes it difficult for the observer to capture appropriate bladder images [10]. This is probably the reason for why the HFUPR was based on just two bladder volume estimations with 5-10 min intervals in some papers [11][12][13]. The aim of the current paper was to present an interactive program for calculating HFUPR, the standard deviation (SD) of estimated HFUPR (SD HFUPR ) and to evaluate the impact on SD HFUPR of (1) the number of bladder volumes utilized for HFUPR calculation and (2) the time span between the first and last captured bladder images.…”
