Nonomuraea purpurea sp. nov., an actinomycete isolated from mangrove sediment

Abstract: A polyphasic approach was used to verify the novel actinomycete, strain 1SM4-01T, isolated from mangrove sediment collected from Ranong Province, Thailand. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that the organism was a member of the genus Nonomuraea and was most closely related to Nonomuraea syzygii GKU 164T (98.7 % sequence similarity), Nonomuraea rhizophila YIM 67092T (98.4 %), Nonomuraea solani NEAU-Z6T (98.4 %), Nonomuraea monospora PT708T (98.3 %) and Nonomuraea thailandensis KC-… Show more

“…In addition, it is known that Nonomuraea rosea, Nonomuraea roseoviolacea, Nonomuraea rubra, Nonomuraea pusilla, Nonomuraea spiralis and Nonomuraea gerenzanensis produce deoxycephalomycin B, carminomicins, maduromycin, actinotiocin, pyralomicin and glycopeptide antibiotic A40926 [9][10][11][12][13][14][15]. Members of the genus have been isolated from diverse natural habitats such as rhizosphere [16,17], leaf [18], cave [19], limestone mine [20], root [5,21], coastal sediment [22], mangrove sediment [23] and mushroom compost [24], while many members were isolated from different types of soil including cave soil [25], forest soil [26,27], arid soil [28], acidic soil [29], rhizosphere soil [3,[30][31][32] and mangrove soil [33].…”

“…Members of the genus have been isolated from various habitats such as coast, cave, desert, forest, lime, rhizosphere and swamp, and also obtained as endophytes in many plants. Among them, Nonomuraea mangrovi [3], Nonomuraea maritima [4], Nonomuraea purpurea [5] and Nonomuraea wenchangensis [6] were obtained from saline soil or rhizosphere of halophytes. They are aerobic, Gram-stain-positive, with extensively branched substrate and aerial mycelia.…”
