Show more

“…The low amount of fertilizers required in the 2 nd cycle was because plants were well established in the field, the mother-plant translocated nutrients to the daughter-plant, and was due to the decomposition and nutrient release of the 1 st cycle crop residues (Moreira & Fageria, 2009). Moreover, the successive applications of fertilizer increased soil K in the experimental field, as reported by Teixeira, Natale, Bettiol Neto, and Martins (2007), who found that successive applications of K in banana favoured the accumulation of this nutrient, most notably in the surface layer and in the areas closest to the plants.…”

“…The cultivation of grasses is normally undertaken individually with great amounts of chemical fertilizers. Although the strategy increases forage production, especially due to the high response of forager to nitrogenated fertilization, increase in production costs, loss of nutrients due to leeching, percolation and volatilization, soil acidity occur coupled to environmental problems (Primavesi, Primavesi, Corrêa, Silva, & Cantarella, 2006;Teixeira, Natale, Neto, & Martins, 2007).…”
