Networks Externalities as Social Phenomenon in the Process ICT Diffusion

Abstract: ABSTRACT. This paper is designed to fill the gap in knowledge that we have identified regarding the process of diffusion of information and communication technologies and emerging network effects that significantly enhance spread of these technologies. We contribute to the present state of the art by examining the process of ICT diffusion in 50 countries, which in 2015 achieved highest ICT penetration rates. With this aim we consider 2 core ICT indicators -mobile cellular telephony and Internet penetration rat… Show more

“…For these corporations to be managed effectively, it is crucial to have information flowing between them and terminal operators, shippers, carriers, custom brokers, insurers, and many other entities involved in these processes. Without modern information and communication technology (ICT) devices (Lechman, 2018;Lula et al, 2019;Kavcakova & Kocisova, 2020) -especially the Internet of Things, big data, and cloud computing -their smooth operations and development would not be possible, while the interconnection costs would be several times higher (Gravili et al, 2018;Dima & Maassen, 2018).…”
