Background: Sterculia has an antioxidant activity. The Sterculia genus has phenols and flavonoids content, and this chemical content may be have an nephroprotective activity. Objective: The study was to investigate the in vitro study of antioxidant activity with DPPH and FRAP study and nephroprotective activity of Sterculia rubiginosa Zoll. Ex Miq. Leaves extract. Materials and Methods: The leaves was extracted using ethanol. This extract was determined for antioxidant activity by in vitro study with DPPH and FRAP methods, determined the content of total phenols, total flavonoids, and also identification of chemical content. Nephrotoxicity study done by induced gentamycin. The groups divided 6 group, consist: negative control, positive control, normal control, and the extract with dose 50 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg, and 200 mg/ kg. The parameter for nephroprotective activity was tubular necrosis, the presence of tubules casts and glomerular damage, creatinine serum, and urea. Results: The ethanol extract has IC 50 162.34 µg/ml for DPPH scavenging activity and 18.65 ± 3.53 FeEAC (Mol/g) for FRAP. The secondary metabolite presence flavonoids, tannins, terpenes, alkaloids, and glycosides. The total phenols 462.36 ± 9.23 mg GAE/gr, total flavonoids content 59.44 ± 0.11 mg QE/gr extract. All the dose have an nephroprotective activity, but the best dose was 50 mg/kg. Conclusion: The ethanol extract of Sterculia rubiginosa showed antioxidant activity and nephroprotective activity.

Cubeba Officinalis is traditionally effective in the treatment of various kidney ailments, and the main adverse effect of tacrolimus is nephrotoxicity. There is no documented evidence about the ameliorative potential of Cubeba Officinalis in tacrolimus induced nephrotoxicity. The main endeavor of the study was to determine the nephroprotective activity of ethanolic extract of Cubeba Officinalis dried fruits against tacrolimus induced nephrotoxicity in Wistar albino rats. The Cubeba Officinalis dried fruits were collected from the local market, and Male albino rats weighing 200-250 g were used for the study. The dose of is lower 200mg/kg, higher dose 400 mg/kg of test drug (EECO) was used, and silymarin is used as the standard at the dose of 20 mg/kg. The animals were divided into five groups, six animals each, which is started prior to oral administration of tacrolimus and continued with the fourteen days tacrolimus treatment. After the whole period of study, the rats were sacrificed, and histopathological studies and biochemical estimations were carried out. The BUN values were decreased from 33.60±3.84 in nephrotoxic rats to 28.27±2.48 (200mg/kg) and 20.70±0.81 (400mg/kg),creatinine levels from 1.645±0.21 to 0.926±0.19 (200mg/kg) and 0.638±0.07(400 mg/kg),uric acid levels from 1.822±0.249 to 1.092±0.306 (200 mg/kg) and 0.806±0.181 (400 mg/kg) sodium, potassium and chloride levels from 1.607± 0.091, 2.548± 0.293 and 259.8±6.42 to 1.302± 0.169 , 1.023±0.174 and 134.7±9.138 (200mg/kg of EECO) and 0.586±0.092 , 0.831±0.174 and 130.2±2.29 (400mg/kg of EECO). The Ethanolic extract of cubeba officinalis was found to be effective in treating the nephrotoxicity in tacrolimus induced nephrotoxicity.

Objective:The objective of the present study is to develop the pharmacological activity of the herbal drug using ethanolic extract of whole plant of Argyreia nervosa which is claimed for its effective treatment of ailments with low toxicity and economic viability. Collection and authentication of whole plant A. nervosa. Extraction of leaves of A. nervosa with 90% ethanol. Phytochemical screening of ethanolic extract of A. nervosa whole plant. Pharmacological evaluation of ethanolic extract biochemical parameters such as estimation of levels of creatinine in blood serum, estimation of levels of urea in blood serum, estimation of levels of uric acid in blood serum and Statistical analysis. Materials and Methods: Picric acid, alkalin buffer reagent, standard creatinine, surfactant, urea reagent, acid reagent, diaceylmonoxime reagent, urea standard, buffer reagent, enzyme reagent, uric acid standard, A. nervosa, gentamicin, di-ethyl ether. Tests for flavonoids, tests for steroids, tests for alkaloids, tests for tannins, tests for carbohydrates, tests for cardiac glycosides, tests for anthra quinones glycosides, tests for amino acids, test for phenols, acute oral toxicity studies, experimental design: The animal experiments were performed after acclimatization animals were separated in to four groups of each group with 6 animals were placed in separate cages, collection of blood, estimation of serum creatinine, estimation of uric acid, estimation of urea, statistical report. Conclusion: The presence of flavonoids, tannins, steroids, carbohydrates, phenols etc. In acute toxicity studies the test dose 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/ kg was chosen as experimental doses. Nephroprotective activity of ethanolic extract of A. nervosa was screened for biochemical parameters (serum creatinine, serum uric acid, serum urea). The ethanolic extracts have produced effective nephroprotective action as evident by results obtained from the studies. The interpretation of the results was done after subjecting the data obtained from various studies by simple graph. The studies indicate that ethanolic extract of A. nervosa whole plant producing promising results in treatment of nephrotoxicity
